After literally 20 years of prep, CAMELTON-the one-man show starring myself, Stephen Cole, flew high for two sold-out (oversold!) performances at Polaris North in NYC. It was a joy and a blast to tell the story...or a version of the story...I say that because in the book CAMELTON there really is, as I sang in the show "the gospel truth." The future for the one-man mini-musical seems to be paved with gold and I hope you will see me again...maybe in Scotland. Stay tuned!

Here's a link to a wonderful 10 minute interview about my one man show and the book Camelton! Both with the same title, but the book has more...so much more!

Thank you Staples for blowing up the cover art of CAMELTON to poster size.

The feeling one gets when the first box of books arrive is indescribable. Each pristine and unread, each containing years of your memories and research and writing expertise. It never gets old. When did I first start writing this book? From the moment I got that first email saying "we want you write musical...how much?" I remembered every detail of the next nine months and the years after that and now over 20 years later it's preserved in all its absurdity and hilarity and also poignance. To say yes, the realize the power that yes would bring is nothing to sneeze at. To travel from New York to Dubai and then to Qatar and back again and to create a brand new musical that would play to thousands in Doha and THEN to create a musical about creating that musical...well, it's a once in a lifetime experience, that much is for sure. So welcome to all you CAMELTON books...welcome to my home and out into the world where others can read and marvel at the exploits and adventures of someone who learned the power of yes.

A personal memory of a day with the great 100 year old star.

Twenty years ago, Award-winning musical theatre writer Stephen Cole met his first camel…and he hasn’t been the same since. Stephen tells his hilarious story of writing a musical for the Emir of Qatar. Picture this! Two Brooklyn Jews, some Middle Eastern producers, flying carpets, Croatian acrobats, Russian ballet dancers, an Italian director, the desert, camels (a lot of camels!) and, of course, music. You will laugh and you will cry (from laughing) in this outrageous, once-in-a-lifetime, unbelievable-but-true tale of how Stephen and his collaborator wrote the first American Musical to premiere in the Middle East.
